“Morning has broken” era un antiguo himno religioso del que en 1972 el cantante y compositor inglés Cat Stevens haría una estupenda adaptación para convertirlo en una de las más hermosas y conocidas baladas de la música pop. Junto a “Lady D'Arbanville”, “Father and son” y “Peace train”, Morning has broken” sería el mayor éxito de su carrera, una carrera que abandona a finales de los años setenta cuando decide convertirse al islamismo tomando el nombre de Yusuf Islam. Debieron pasar más de diez años antes de que lo volviéramos a ver cantar, pero ya lo haría de forma más esporádica, sobre todo en funciones benéficas, y en la grabación de varios discos.
